Alamo 1724 Gala

OPPORTUNITY

The CE Group was tasked with bringing the inaugural fundraising gala celebrating the 300th anniversary of the founding of the Alamo to life at the iconic site. Benefiting the Remember the Alamo Foundation, the goal of the event was to establish support for the Alamo’s preservation and expansion projects, as well as their ongoing educational outreach and public programs.

SOLUTION

Our Events and Production Team and our Creative Team worked together to conceptualize an event identity that told the story of the Alamo’s three-hundred-year history throughout the event. As guests progressed through different areas of the sacred grounds, they were transported back in time to distinct eras of the Alamo.

Beginning at the inception of the Spanish mission during the "Mission in the New World" cocktail hour, guests wandered through earthy decor and sampled appetizers that paid homage to the mingling of Spanish and Native American cuisine. Our team also incorporated church pews into the furniture to allude to the heavy influence of the Spanish Christian missionaries on the Alamo. From there, guests made their way to the next era; a dinner and auction titled "Land, Opportunity, Conflict". This next segment began with a musket firing; a symbol of the rebellion and battles that ensued during the rise of Mexico's political leader, Santa Anna. Blood reds were incorporated in floral and tablescape elements to recognize the blood shed during this era. After a plated dinner featuring beef tenderloin and pomegranate grilled quail, and a live auction hosted by cowboys, attendees ended the night in the final era, "Birth of a State of Mind"; a marker that signified the beginnings of an independent state that would be home to Lone Star spirit, big ideas, and even bigger personalities.

This closing period featured a first of its kind drone show narrated by Pat Green which offered a voiceover storytelling of the history of the Alamo, whimsical floral and vibrant furniture, as well as a finale performance by country star, Martina McBride.

To make a gala for almost 1,000 people with a full seated dinner, live auction, and program possible in the plaza of the Alamo during a time of renovation, the Events and Production Team coordinated with numerous parties to create a layout that would allow for seamless flow. And as the fundraiser for these renovations and other public programs, immense detail was put into the planning of production and run of show development. The program featured several speakers, including the Lieutenant Governor of Texas and videos from prominent figures like former First Lady Laura Bush.

The CE Group produced an unforgettable experience celebrating the longstanding history of the Alamo, the event moved guests to fully understand and believe their donations to the Alamo Foundation was imperative so many others could continue to experience the history of The Alamo. The Foundation surpassed their fundraising goals receiving five million dollars in one evening.
