The Robert L.B. Tobin Land Bridge at Phil Hardberger Park

I know that grand opening events like the Robert L.B. Tobin Land Bridge at Phil Hardberger Park don’t “just happen.” It takes a lot of people cooperating and working together to move forward. It also takes people willing to take charge, make tough decisions and take responsibility. The CE Group is just such a company. Please accept my thanks on behalf of myself and the entire city of San Antonio.

OPPORTUNITY

The Phil Hardberger Park Conservancy and the San Antonio community marked the opening of the largest wildlife crossing built for people and animals in the United States – the Robert L.B. Tobin Land Bridge at Phil Hardberger Park.

Throughout 2020, The CE Group served as a strategic partner to the Phil Hardberger Conservancy as they planned for the historic opening of the Land Bridge while maneuvering the uncertainty of the pandemic. Plans for a donor event and grand opening ceremony were postponed due to COVID-19, but our team remained a steadfast partner helping tell the story of this iconic new San Antonio landmark. In 2022, we came back and helped organized the Gala after being canceled.

SOLUTION

Our Communication team led media relations efforts, securing substantial local, national, and international media coverage in outlets such as the San Antonio Express-News, Texas Highways, WGN America, and Huffington Post. We also produced a video to share on social media in lieu of an opening ceremony featuring an unveiling of the Land Bridge’s official name and remarks from former San Antonio mayor Phil Hardberger who spearheaded the project. Our Creative teams created an event identity with the theme “BRIDGING COMMUNITY” to reflect the Land Bridge as a symbol of hope following a challenging year. The team also designed volunteer t-shirts for the Land Bridge’s opening weekend, as well as custom face masks to commemorate the occasion.
