A New Era for The CE Group

After more than three decades of shaping experiences and campaigns that have helped define San Antonio, The CE Group, Inc. is stepping into a new chapter, one that has been thoughtfully, intentionally, and lovingly planned for years. Effective February 1, 2026, Lori Houston will become the owner of The CE Group, succeeding Founder and President & CEO Janet Holliday.

For Janet, this moment of succession has been a long time coming. “I began thinking about succession almost ten years ago,” Janet shared. “Not because I was ready to leave, but because I love this company and this team too much not to plan for its future. I wanted to be sure the CE Group would always be led with heart, integrity, and a deep commitment to this community.” That search didn’t happen overnight. It took time, discernment, and a clear sense of who would honor the legacy the CE Group has built since 1990. And along the way, Janet realized something powerful: the right successor was already an integral part of her life.

Their relationship extends well beyond the office. They’ve celebrated milestones together, supported one another through challenges, and built a friendship rooted in trust. Janet is even the godmother to Lori’s daughter—a reflection of just how intertwined their lives have become. Years ago, Lori and Janet first got to know each other through city projects where their work often intersected. When Millie, Lori’s daughter, was a toddler, she would light up whenever she saw Janet and her husband, Rob. One evening, they decided to grab dinner together—and from that night on, they became family. From then on, the two developed a mentorship relationship marked by mutual investment, learning from one another while navigating leadership, work, and family as visionary women.

When Lori began considering her next step after retiring from the City of San Antonio, she knew she was looking for more than just a role. She wanted a place with great people, a strong culture, and meaningful work. The CE Group immediately came to mind. “I’m thrilled to share this next chapter of the CE story,” Janet said. “Lori Houston and I discovered we were the perfect match—not just professionally, but personally. She understands leadership, service, and the responsibility that comes with stewarding something bigger than yourself.”

Lori’s career speaks for itself. As former Assistant City Manager for the City of San Antonio, she led some of the city’s most complex and impactful initiatives, building trusted relationships and guiding teams through meaningful change. But what truly connects her to the CE Group goes deeper than a résumé. “I’ve always admired The CE Group’s purpose and its people,” Lori said. “This team creates experiences and campaigns that matter—experiences that bring people together and leave a lasting impact on our city. That kind of work doesn’t happen by accident. It happens because of culture, care, mentorship, and an unwavering belief in people.” That belief is something Janet and Lori have shared for years. “Lori has an entrepreneurial spirit paired with a servant’s heart,” Janet said. “She’s detail-oriented, creative, and a true team builder. Most importantly, she loves San Antonio as deeply as I do. I know she will honor our legacy while continuing to innovate and lead the CE Group forward.”

This transition is designed to be seamless for clients, vendors, partners, and the CE team. The relationships built over decades and the level of service the CE Group is known for will remain exactly the same. Clients can expect the same trusted team, the same care and attention to detail, and the same commitment to delivering meaningful, high-impact experiences. At the same time, CE Group looks ahead with excitement to the new strategies, perspectives, and innovations Lori will bring—both to the agency and to the clients and communities it serves. Janet will remain President and CEO until August 1, 2026, working side by side with Lori throughout the year to guide strategy, operations, and vision. After that, Janet will continue her involvement as President Emeritus and a trusted advisor, ensuring continuity, continued mentorship, and support as CE moves forward.

For Lori, leadership begins with listening. “My approach is to learn first—about the people, the culture, and what makes the CE Group special,” she said. “This environment fosters creativity and growth, celebrates excellence, and truly values the people behind the work. I’m honored to be part of that and excited for what we’ll build together.” As The CE Group enters this next era, one thing remains unchanged: the heart of the company. Janet’s legacy is woven into every experience, every relationship, and every value that defines The CE Group. With her continued guidance and Lori’s people-first leadership, the future is not just secure—it’s full of possibility. This chapter isn’t about an ending. It’s about continuity. It’s about friendship. And it’s about writing the future of the CE Group together—with purpose, creativity, and love for this city we call home.
