WETA came to Austin because of the PBS conference that was being held at the Austin Convention Center. They hired Destination: Austin to help them produce on offsite event for the attendees of the convention. One of their main objectives was to have a very “Austin” feel to the venue. They ended up choosing Maggie Mae’s on infamous 6^th Street. Because the Gibson Room we were in had so much fun music décor there was not much décor for us to bring in. But we did spice it up a little bit with leopard print linens to go along with the rock and roll theme of the venue. Guests enjoyed cocktail hour outside on the patio overlooking 6^th street and the downtown Austin skyline. Guests went inside for dinner and then had a chance to sing karaoke with a LIVE rock and roll band!! Guests really felt like they were part of a real band that night.
